Why do you clean for Simply Clean?
After nine fulfilling years at my previous job, my situation changed and I needed something with more flexibility. A friend of mine was working for Simply Clean, and recommended that I also look for work with the company. When the opportunity to do so came up, I took it, hoping that this new undertaking would be a good fit all around. I am thankful to say that working for Simply Clean has been a complete pleasure. I love being able to work primarily on my preferred schedule, and it is very rewarding to leave the vehicles I clean in top shape no matter what condition I find them in.
How does it work for your schedule?
I am a full time student, enrolled in the Elementary Education program at SUNY New Paltz. Like many education programs, this one is designed with students fresh out of high school in mind- not so much working adults. Night classes are rarely offered, and up until Covid forced in-person classes to shut down, online classes were just as scarce. Working for Simply Clean has taken such a burden off my shoulders; when it comes time to register for classes, I don’t have to give much thought to conflicts with my work schedule. When I’m assigned a group project, I can be confident that I’ll find time to work with my peers’ schedules. Best of all, I am able to work more in a week with Simply Clean than at my previous job, which was only open during regular business hours. With a bit of planning, I can make the most out of my time for my education, work, and home life.
Any fun facts or tips that you have learned along the way about cleaning and helping Zipcar?
Pay attention to the details! I’m convinced that the cleaner a vehicle is when a client arrives, the less likely they are to mistreat the vehicle. Just as importantly, the customer will feel better about their purchase, enjoy their ride more and have a positive impression of Zipcar. Taking a little time to make sure every aspect of the vehicle is clean pulls together the overall presentation exponentially. I would also emphasize communication. A brief phone call or email can save me time, save the company money, and make sure that the cars have as much uptime as possible.
